June 21-30, 2022
We are happy to announce that a video-based online training workshop in evaluating and coding attachment behavior of preschool and early school-age children will be held between June 21st and 30th, 2022. The training will rely on a hybrid delivery method. Participants will be welcome to participate only via Zoom, or in-person in Ottawa. This latter option may be particularly interesting to those attending the 2022 International Congress of Infant Studies, held in Ottawa in early July.
This training is led by Dr. Jean-Francois Bureau, Professor Dept. of Psychology, University of Ottawa and Dr. Audrey-Ann Deneault, Postodctoral fellow at University of Calgary. Drs. Bureau and Deneault have published important research articles in the field of preschool attachment including both mother-child and father-child relationships and conducted numerous trainings for both researchers and practitioners in the field of attachment.
Participants from all backgrounds are welcome. Participants typically include those wishing to seek accreditation in coding separation-reunion behavior for research purposes, as well as clinicians wishing to develop expertise in the evaluation of attachment patterns. For example, past participants have included psychiatrists, educators, social workers, psychologists conducting evaluations for courts, researchers, and research assistants. Participants will acquire expertise in the evaluation and classification of post-infancy security, avoidance, ambivalence/dependence, as well as the disorganization/controlling attachment behaviors. The training will include both the traditional categorical classification system (MacArthur Preschool Attachment Coding System; PACS) as well as on newly validated continuous scales of attachment (Preschool Attachment Rating Scales, PARS; Deneault, Bureau, Yurkowski, & Moss, 2020).
The workshop will begin on Tuesday June 21st, 2022 and end on Thursday June 30th, 2022. Tuesday, June 21st to Friday, June 24th, as well as Monday, June 27th to Thursday, June 30thth are full training days. We will be off on the weekend (June 25th and 26th). The cost of the workshop is US$ 2000. A fee reduction of $250 is available for professors and students of Canadian universities or employees of Canadian mental health institutions (eligibility will be checked based on the training registration form). The fee includes all taxes, training manuals, practice tapes, and access to reliability accreditation for categorical (PACS) and continuous attachment (PARS).
Enrollment is limited. In order to confirm your attendance, completion of the registration form and payment in full is required.
